The Walt Disney Company confirmed today that a Frozen attraction will be coming to EPCOT. The new Frozen attraction will be replacing Maelstrom in the Norway Pavilion in EPCOT. Maelstrom will close on October 5, 2014 and new attraction is scheduled to open in early 2016. The Norway Pavilion will also become home to a new Anna & Elsa meet and greet. The pavilion will remain open during construction. What do you think about the new addition?
For the past several years I have been lucky enough to be at Walt Disney World in the fall when Mickey’s No- So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) was going on. This Halloween themed event takes place on select nights in September and October from 7:00 PM to Midnight. While the Magic Kingdom is decorated with fall foliage, pumpkins etc., throughout the season, on MNSSHP nights, added lighting, effects, smoke, music and characters come out to make the night just a little more festive.
This is a great people watching event as guests (both children and adults) often dress in costumes. Some of them so elaborate, that it is hard to tell if they are a cast member or guest! While I enjoy seeing all the costumes, my favorite are always those dressed like they stepped out of the Haunted Mansion. Speaking of stepping out of the Haunted Mansion, don’t be surprised to find Madam Carlotta sitting on the lawn of the Mansion starting up conversations with guests in line.
With EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival about to begin in just a few weeks, it got me thinking about all the great experiences I have had at the festival over the years. From beer tastings in the American Pavilion, wine tastings and demonstrations in Festival Hall, to eating and drinking my way around the world, each year the experience is a little different, but always enjoyable.
Tasting booths are set up throughout the World Showcase, while culinary demonstrations, wine/beverage seminars, book/bottle signings, Ghiradelli’s Chocolate Experience, festival logo shop and dining experiences take place in the Festival Center (located in Future World East, between Mission: SPACE and Universe of Energy). Entry to the festival as well as many of the special events and demonstrations are included with your park admission. However, all dining experiences as well as most seminars do have additional fees. Call (407) WDW-FEST (939-3378) to purchase tickets.
While the food and wine options during the fest are unbelievable, one of the highlights for me has always been the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. I may not always want to wait to get a seat in the America Gardens Theatre (people line up early for these shows). But, unless it is one of my “must see” performers, I am just as happy enjoying the music from a nearby bench with a beverage or snack from one of the many food booths. But, if you want a guaranteed seat for one of the performances, you’re in luck. New in 2014, EPCOT has added Eat to the Beat dining packages for select shows.

It has been reported that the American Film Institute Showcase exhibit and shop at Disney's Hollywood Studios will close for good August 17, 2014. The exhibit and shop are currently at the end of the Studio Backlot Tour attraction and feature movie memorabilia.
Right now, it is unknown what will be replacing the space. However, the Studio Backlot Tour will continue to operate. But, it will no longer exit through that area.
When I need a little break at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, my favorite thing to do is grab a Mickey ear ice cream bar, find a bench on Sunset or Hollywood Boulevard and watch the Citizens of Hollywood perform one of their skits.
These “Streetmosphere”characters, which range from police officers and cab drivers to starlets and producers, perform a variety of skits throughout the day. No performance is ever the same as they engage with park guests and have them participate in their 15-20 minute acts. So, the next time you need a little break at Hollywood Studios, find a bench, do a little people watching and be on the lookout for the Citizens to appear. Who knows, you may be recruited to become an actor in the next Borax commercial like I was!
2015 Disney Dining Plan and Prices have been released. So far it looks like there is no price increase!
